Southern Minnesota Yields

We have all heard how good the soybean crop is south of us so thought we'd show you a yield test from southern Minnesota to show you what yields are doing down there.

Pioneer P19T60r  -  72.9 bu/a - 12.6%
Pioneer P15T83r  -  69.7 bu/a - 13.2%
Pioneer P13T99r  -  76.0 bu/a - 13.1%

Guess they do have a great crop! This is from the Hills, Mn area by the Iowa border. All three of these varieties are in our soybean plots too. It'll be hard to beat those yields!

Soybean Side X Sides

In a field out on the county line between Traverse and Grant County, there were a number of side x side comparisons made. It is not a plot and shouldn't be taken that way as the comparisons were quite a ways apart.

Pioneer P10T91 - 61.59 bu/a     10.8%
Wensman 3102 -  57.81 bu/a     10.5%
Wensman 3102 -  55.63 bu/a     10.8%

Pioneer P10T02 - 56.37 bu/a     11.1%
Pioneer P10T91 - 61.05 bu/a     10.5%

Pioneer P10T02 - 56.37 bu/a      10.95
Pioneer  91Y10 -  59.19 bu/a     11.0%

Pioneer 91Y10 -  56.03 bu/a      11.6%
Wensman 3121 - 57.01 bu/a      10.9%

Wensman 3121 - 59.35 bu/a      10.5%
Pioneer 91Y10  - 62.77 bu/a      10.9%

Soil was Red River Valley clay loam. High IDC and SCN but would still rate this ground as pretty good, not a real challenged field.

A New Harvest Season

Well, here it is and a new harvest season is upon us. Soybean results are just starting to trickle in. Some early results are in and Pioneer P10T91 soybean is showing up real well.
- South of Wheaton, a 154 acre field averaged 61.5 bu/a with a 12.7% moisture.
- Between Wheaton and Norcross on the county line, P10T91's in very difficult soils averaged 46.5 bu/a over 237.1 acres. The field next to it, a competition bean variety averaged 25 bu/a. Not a true comparison but it gives you an idea of how tough the ground is in that area.
- The same P10T91's in an adjacent field out-yielded Asgrow 0732 by 5.5 bu/a.

We expected P10T91's to show up real well this year as they came out of the ground fast and with great vigor, even through the cold, wet spring. They also canopied real well in comparison to other varieties and were able to hold down late-season weeds better than almost any bean. This is the second year that we have seen them. Refer to our posts from last fall on this blog and you will see some pretty good results. P10T91 is definitely a bean to keep your eye on!

We hope to add results as quickly as they come in so check back often if you can and please keep safety in mind as you tackle the harvest of 2014.
