Warehouse Show Plot

This plot is the one right across from our warehouse. It didn't have great yields but they were better than some others. Planted at 34,500 with starter fertilizer.

Four hybrids were at a little higher level than others. P9703amx is a new 97-day hybrid that is showing some potential. P0157amx is the new 101-day. No one ever checks to see what a 2 hybrid blend would do in corn. People do it for soybeans so why not corn? P9834 is a low test weight corn and P9917 is a higher test weight corn so we mixed them in some plots just to see what would happen. The P9917 does seem to pull up the poor test weight of P9834 and lower the moisture but we didn't see any yield benefits in general.

Anderson Corn Plot N of Wheaton

This plot was found along the east side of Highway 75 north of Wheaton 4-5 miles. This plot took a big hit from too much rain and from early frost like a lot of our plots this year.

Not going to learn too much from this plot either. Yields are off pretty good. This area took some really poor weather early in the season and also took a pretty hard frost in the fall.  The top yielder was P9538 amxt which is a new 95-day hybrid that we are watching closely.

Jorschumb Corn Plot

This plot is just ne of Wheaton along the Norcross tar. Had very wet conditions and early frost nipped it too. Planted around May 25th, 34,500 population.

Not much to learn from this plot. Just had too much stress. Note again the moisture and test weight on P9917amx though. It is acting more like a 95-96 day corn hybrid this year.
  

SW of Dumont Plot

This plot was 3-4 miles southwest of Dumont. Very good plot, even and good yields. Planted on May 15, harvested on Oct 20, 36,000 population. Results:

This plot shows that you can't win them all. The competition takes the top two spots with some very nice yields. P0157 is a new 101-day hybrid that is showing up pretty well this year. Yield on P9917 was pretty good but moisture and test weight was very good for a 99-day corn. P9644 is a new 96-day hybrid that we are checking out. Note no response to starter fertilizer here although it was noticeably drier.
