Had a chance on Oct 2 to take our first soybean test plot off. This plot is northwest of Wheaton 4 miles. Nice ground but got nipped pretty hard by the frost earlier. The soybeans looked beautiful and we expected a little higher yields (believe it or not) for the plot but the frost took off the top end of yield we think.
The results are:
Pioneer 91Y10 - 52.5 bu/a - 12.6%
Pioneer P10T02 - 62.7 bu/a - 13.6% - #1
Pioneer P10T91 - 56.8 bu/a - 12.8%
AsGrow 1230 - 57.2 bu/a - 13.2%
Pioneer P15T83 - 53.5 bu/a - 13.4%
Pioneer P19T60 - 51.2 bu/a - 13.5%
AsGrow 1431 - 51.6 bu/a - 13.0%
Pioneer 90M80 - 51.6 bu/a - 13.0%
The high variety here is one of our new T-Series beans in the 1.0 maturity range. A reminder, the the two numbers after the P is the maturity. For example, Pioneer P15T83r has a 15 after the P which makes it a 1.5 maturity bean, Pioneer P10T02 has a 10 after the P so it is a 1.0 bean. The later maturing beans seem to have had their yield potential nipped by the frost here.
