Anderson Soybean Plot

This soybean plot is located about 6 miles north of Wheaton along US Hwy 75. Planted on May 8, and harvested on 9/14. Planted in 30" rows at 180,000/acre. Very even field so results should have a high degree of reliability. As in our other plots, the 1.5 maturity beans and higher are much wetter and we were not able to harvest them yet so we will finish the plot on Monday. For the 1.4 maturity beans and less, here are the results:
Pioneer 90Y70 - 62.9 b/a & 7.5%
Pioneer 90M80 - 62.2 b/a & 6.9%
Pioneer 90Y80 - 62.1 b/a & 7.0%
Pioneer 90Y81 - 57.7 b/a & 7.3%
Pioneer 90Y90 - 60.7 b/a & 7.3%
Pioneer 91Y01 - 56.3 b/a & 7.7%
Pioneer 91Y10 - 60.7 b/a & 9.1%
Competitor       - 67.3 b/a & 11.1%
Pioneer 91Y30 - 67.9 b/a & 9.6%
Pioneer 91Y41 - 57.8 b/a & 8.2%
Pioneer 91Y70 - 64.5 b/a & 12.6%
Pioneer 91Y80 - 57.6 b/a & 18.4%
Pioneer 91Y81 - 63.9 b/a & 11.1%
- The beans in blue were harvested 8 days later.
- New Pioneer soybean 91Y30 continues to show up big. It has been in the top of all four variety plots of ours so far. 90M80 was still strong. A little disappointing yield from both the 90Y81 and 91Y41 in this plot.  Plot harvesting was witness by an independent, Mike Lockwood of Mid-America Distribution, a generic pesticide distributor. We will update this plot as well as Gary's Sorenson bean plots when we finish the later-maturing beans on Monday. Again, as was mentioned at our plot day, the 1.5 maturity beans and later are just on a different ripening timetable this year. It will be interesting to see if that is a negative thing or a positive thing.
