Yost/Sorenson Soybean Variety Plot

This plot is found about 4 miles north and 3 miles west of Wheaton. It was planted May 9, 2012 and harvested on September 11, 2012. Planted in 30" rows and 180,000/acre. The results reported here today will be the variety plot only. There was a seed treatment plot on the north side of plot. We will report all of our seed treatment plots in one blog sometime this weekend after we harvest our other seed treatment plot which will be on about Friday. Note there was no competitor in this plot as this was our last plot planted and we had run out of the plot seed we had been given. This was a very nice even plot throughout. The results:
Pioneer 90Y41 - 63.1 b/a & 7.7%
Pioneer 90Y70 - 64.1 b/a & 8.6%
Pioneer 90M80 - 62.4 b/a & 8.7%
Pioneer 90Y80 - 65.1 b/a & 8.4%
Pioneer 90Y81 - 60.5 b/a & 9.1%
Pioneer 90Y90 - 62.8 b/a & 9.3%
Pioneer 91Y01 - 60.3 b/a & 9.5% (was lodged)
Pioneer 91Y10 - 61.3 b/a & 11.5%
Pioneer 91Y30 - 68.7 b/a & 12.1%
Pioneer 91Y41 - 62.5 b/a & 10.9%
Pioneer 91Y70 - 62.4 b/a & 9.9%
Pioneer 91Y80 - 59.2 b/a & 12.3%
Pioneer 91Y81 - 64.0 b/a & 9.9%
- The varieties in blue were the beans that were harvested 11 days later.
- The 91Y30 really stuck out in this plot at 68.7 bushels/acre! This variety has really stuck out in all three varietal plots so far. 90M80 were good but didn't stick out which has always been the case on this field. We've had a plot on here for 7-8 years and it never has stuck out here. It did beat the new 90Y81's here. The 1.5 maturity and later soybeans in this plot were behind in maturity to the level that we will harvest them later. The seed treatment results were interesting and as mentioned earlier, the results will be reported as soon as we do our last seed treatment plot on Friday.
