The first test plot results are in. We were able to harvest the Warehouse Test Plot on Monday. The plot was planted on May 1, 2012 and was harvested on September 10, 2012. 30" Rows and a planted stand of 180,000/acre. The early maturity varieties had a low spot running through them so to be fair, we're reporting it as two different plots.
The early maturing beans:
Pioneer 90Y41 - 34.8 b/a & 8.6%
Pioneer 90Y70 - 41.1 b/a & 8.5%
Pioneer 90M80 - 49.8 b/a & 8.0%
Pioneer 90Y80 - 46.4 b/a & 7.9%
Pioneer 90Y81 - 48.1 b/a & 8.1%
Pioneer 90Y90 - 47.9 b/a & 8.0%
-Of early maturing beans, 90M80 was excellent as we could have guessed after hearing the first yields come in. 90Y81 was impressive also.
-from here on in the plot, the low spot disappeared and it is shown in the yields!
The later maturing beans:
Pioneer 91Y01 - 53.6 b/a & 7.9%
Pioneer 91Y10 - 53.2 b/a & 8.2%
Competitor - 54.7 b/a & 8.4%
Pioneer 91Y30 - 55.5 b/a & 8.3%
Pioneer 91Y41 - 56.2 b/a & 8.2%
Pioneer 91Y70 - 57.3 b/a & 9.1%
Pioneer 91Y80 - 54.6 b/a & 10%
Pioneer 91Y81 - 55.6 b/a & 9.1%
- We talked about during our plot day how soybeans 1.5 maturity and higher were markedly different in maturity and had podded higher on the plant which may or may not affect yields. In this plot they were markedly different in development but yields were not. 91Y30 was a surprise yielder as it hadn't looked that impressive. 91Y41 was expected to yield well and it did, but the overall winner was 91Y70.
